ARIES: Assisted Revision in English Style
ARIES is designed to assist you in your academic writing, through strengthening your grammar and developing your academic style.
ARIES (Assisted Revision In English Style) is designed to assist you in your academic writing, through strengthening your grammar and developing your academic style. It consists of a series of units, which build up from improving your sentence structure and punctuation, to structuring your essays, producing effective and clear arguments, and properly referencing other material in your own work. Each unit is composed of a mixture of explanation and interactive exercises, allowing you to test, as well as improve, your knowledge.
ARIES can help you with:
Sentences - sentence structure and avoiding grammatical mistakes.
Clarity - maintaining clarity in your writing, through structural and stylistic choices.
Essays - structuring your essays and strengthening your arguments.
Referencing and plagiarism - referencing other authors in your work and avoiding plagiarism.
ARIES is available as a website and an app for iOS and Android devices. The first version of ARIES was developed in the 1990s at the University of Glasgow by Christian Kay and Jean Anderson, Resource Development Officer, with programming by Ann Gow and David Scotson. The current version has been prepared with University of Glasgow LTDF funding by Marc Alexander, Ewan Hannaford, Karoliina Ollikainen, and Andrew Struan, with programming by Brian Aitken.
